In this topic we study the Art of the Roman Empire:

• the sculpture (including portraits and historical reliefs)

• mosaics

• public architecture of the Roman Empire (from Augustus to Constantine)

Relief Sculpture

Relief scupture is defined as the projection of figures or forms from a flat background.  Examples of this projection of figures can be seen on Trajan's Column, The Two Arches and the Ara Pacis.
